The
Celtic Harp has been part of the Irish culture for more than 1000
years, and has become now its national symbol.
In the middle of the 20th century, a new instrument called the accordion
appears, while thanks to the revival of the Gaëlic culture, the
harp comes back to light and takes root in the popular tradition.
If the expensive and fragile harp has long been associated with a
noble and romantic music, the accordion is often considered as the
perfect working-class instrument.
Benedicte
Riou and Jean-Paul Moreau force those bias out,
and combine both instruments in a unique art that is traditional Irish
music.
'The Three-Hand Reel' is the unusual but intuitive encounter of two
instruments, far from any cliché, in a soft musical exchange
full
of complementary sounds.
